NETWORKING

13.WHAT IS NETWORKING

networking is a process of connecting two two more computers so that they may exchange information and files, networking is very important in this generation because a lot of computers are able to connect through out the world to transfer information this is called the internet.

There are three types of networks, Local area network(LAN),wide area network(WAN) and metropolitan area network(MAN).

LAN- this is a network of computers connected and exchanging information within a single building.click here for more

WAN- this is a group of computers connected together across the globe, this is what creates the internet, in other words if you are accessing a website on your laptop it means you are viewing a webpage on someones computer or server somewhere in the world, a wide area network can have computers connected together across a distance of about 1 km, it connects LAN together its a very big type of network. click here for more

MAN- this is a metropolitan network click here for more

15.SERVERS

Servers are dedicated computers mainly used to provide centralized services such as sharing of information, they are big types of computers used in Data center services.
click on this link for more information on servers

a server is a dedicated computer and mainly supply services to to computers called clients.

16.IMPORTANCE OF A SERVER

here are some of the reasons why companies and businesses need a server.

1.servers are very important for data storage.

2.they improve production or efficiency for companies.

3. Centralized management.

4. file sharing/ printer sharing.

17.NETWORK TOPOLOGIES

18. OSI MODEL

The osi model describes how data is transmitted from from scratch to the application level, the
application user describes the end user, and here is the diagram to describe the OSI MODEL, as a
computer student its very important that you know the osi model. its the open system interconnection(osi model)

So data been sent from a certain source enters the network via the physical layer until it reaches the application, this process happens in mils seconds, and the process happens vice versa as well.

an example of a physical layer comprise of the physical components we see with our eyes and and transmits data in bits rather than logical packets.

19.PACKET TRACER

Packet tracer is a learning tool that students all over the world use to learn networking, packet tracer allows you to create your own network and see how it works just as it would in reality, its a powerful tool used to design a network and test it before building it physically.
observe as i demonstrate packet tracer.
